Darcy Barillas, LMHC-D
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Diagnostic Privilege
I am a bi-lingual (Spanish-Speaking) NYS Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who specializes in counseling those with a variety of struggles. With an advanced degree in Forensic Psychology, Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, NYS Licensure to provide psychotherapy, and certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, I am able to help guide others with a diverse lens.
Therapy starts by building a therapeutic relationship; it relies on being honest, nonjudgmental, empathetic, and developing a safe, encouraging, and trusting environment. As we journey through the complexities of life, our mental health plays a crucial role in shaping our overall well-being. Seeking support through mental health counseling can be a transformative step towards achieving inner peace and emotional balance.
Therapeutic Approach
I use an integrative therapeutic approach, as I understand there is no "one size fits all" therapy. Whether it is using a humanistic and psychodynamic approach to help others gain valuable insight to their past and/or trauma, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to decrease anxiety or improve self-esteem, or using Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to assist those who experience intense emotions and behaviors.
